Anita Kanji

Advocate, Youth Worker, Wellbeing Officer, BSL/DA Tutor

I’m Anita. I am a profoundly deaf BSL user. I am passionate about the deaf community, as I am a member of the deaf community myself.

I have a PG Cert qualification in teaching and Level 6 in BSL, I have been teaching BSL for 30 years. I have been involved in leading the Wellbeing service since it was established 8 years ago. We arrange activities and workshops to improve service users’ life skills and knowledge and to enhance their lives by accessing different experiences. This also transfers to my role in CYPS, as a Youth Worker I support young people of all ages at a variety of events and activities. As an Advocate I am committed to the deaf community having access to services and breaking down barriers.

I love meeting up with the deaf community at Deaf events and socials, along with attending Deaf theatre productions. I particularly enjoy travel and going on holiday. When having downtime, I enjoy nothing more than settling down to watch a Netflix series.
