As a severely to profoundly deaf BSL user with over 20 years’ experience in British Sign Language and administration, I’ve dedicated my career to making BSL learning accessible, engaging, and rooted in Deaf culture. My journey has taken me across the UK as a Deaf instructor, BSL Lecturer, Teacher, and Trainer in education, business, and freelance roles—experiences that have shaped my commitment to inclusion and quality.
In April 2025, I embraced a new challenge, taking up the role of BSL and Deaf Inclusion Manager at Manchester Deaf Centre. It’s been a huge learning curve, but an exciting one! I now oversee our BSL provision from Level 1 to Level 4, support our teaching team, and design training programs that run smoothly and meet the highest standards. My focus is on helping teachers grow into the best version of themselves and creating welcoming, inspiring learning environments where every student feels valued.
I hold a PGCE, a Level 6 NVQ in British Sign Language, and an ILM Level 3 in Leadership and Management, all of which underpin my work in education and leadership.
My goal is simple: to ensure that learning BSL isn’t just about language—it’s about building bridges, celebrating Deaf culture, and fostering real connection and understanding.
Outside of work, I love painting, drawing, reading, and relaxing at home with my three lovely cats.
