I was born deaf, diagnosed at 18 months old and got my first hearing aids at age 5. I went to mainstream schools growing up and was very oral, but at 16 I had my first experience of going to Manchester Deaf Centre and seeing everyone sign. It was amazing to see and I quickly delved into the world of BSL, and I've been heavily involved in the deaf community ever since!
Over the years I have run several events and fundraisers, from walks and bike rides to the Manchester Deaf Ball, all with the aim of uplifting and supporting the deaf community and ensuring the continuation of accessible services. I also have a background in education, having worked in schools and colleges supporting deaf learners, which has led me to my CYPS role here at Manchester Deaf Centre. Working within the deaf community is my biggest passion, and I am just really excited to be here.
