I’m Wayne, I’m profoundly deaf and a native BSL user. I have a BA Honours degree in British Sign Language and I graduated from UCLAN in 2012. My first and second role at MDC being a BSL teacher which I have now been teaching for two years andsecondly delivering Deaf Awareness training. My third role is a Wellbeing Officer where I support clients on various trips around Manchester or here at MDC, we organise outside organisations to come in and do workshops with the clients. My fourth and final role which I recently started is with CYPS where I support different youth groups at various events. I love performance, dance and theatre and I was involved in the Paralympics opening ceremony in 2012. I also have experience doing BSL translations for ITV. My hobbies include playing Mixed Ability Rugby for Bolton Buccaneers team for over one year now and I keep going to Total fitness gym to keep me fit. I also attend deaf exhibition events, I enjoy going to watch accessible theatre (with a BSL interpreter or captions), socialising with friends and relaxing in my free time at home watching TV.
