Our WAITE employment team would like to celebrate the achievements of our client, Glen Palin. Glen is an artist. He has become known for his fascinating work, which incorporates the Manchester Bee image into pieces which are inspired by his experiences of being in our city. Glen has been supported by MDC employment advisers in recent years to set up a project.
Funding from the Arts Council has enabled Glen to receive mentoring and professional development to help him to access the art world as a deaf artist, and to produce an exhibition. He has recently displayed his exhibition at theatre and bar 53two in central Manchester for two weeks, and 53two hosted a BSL-interpreted ‘meet the artist’ session.
MDC was delighted to be able to offer Glen the opportunity to work with our wellbeing group’s Jubilee art project over the summer as a role model, showing his arts skills to the service users.
Glen has expressed that he is very thankful for the support he received from MDC to develop his own freelance arts project. He now feels more confident and enjoys teaching deaf people all about his passion.
