25th November 2024
Wow, what an incredible night celebrating our 50th anniversary at Crawford House. Over 80 people joined us from organisations across Manchester, including friends from Sign Health, BSL Society at the University of Manchester, Manchester Museum, local councillors and more.
We were honoured to welcome Joanna Midgley, Deputy Leader of Manchester City Council, who gave an inspiring speech about how important it is to make sure deaf people are fully included, develop their potential, feel less isolated and can get access to employment and the services that they need.
We loved hearing from Manchester Deaf Social Club members who shared their memories from 50 years ago, including the move and all the wonderful events and activities that took place in our building. We were amazed to learn there used to be badminton in the main hall. Here’s to many more years ahead…do we really have to wait another 50 years to do it all again?
