Our trustees are a dedicated group of people who volunteer their time to help the Deaf Centre, but they are not usually visible; their work takes place behind the scenes. Trustees share responsibility for deciding how the charity is run. They help with all sorts of things like decisions about our building, planning for the future, monitoring the Deaf Centre’s accounts, and supporting our paid management team.
We are very lucky to have 11 fantastic trustees at present, seven of whom are D/deaf, deafened or hard of hearing. Between them they have a wide range of skills, experiences and interests to bring to the role. We asked one of our newer trustees, Bryony Parkes, to film a short clip to introduce herself to our newsletter audience. Here she is saying hello in BSL with subtitles.
