Riley’s Bar at MDC, which opened in August 2021, is proving popular as a meeting place. It is open every Wednesday evening from 7pm to 10pm, and at other times when there are events running.
Recent events have included a Halloween Quiz, an evening with Lynn Stewart-Taylor, founder of the #Where Is The Interpreter Campaign, and monthly coffee mornings. Our first market held in October was a huge success. Stalls included jewellery, handmade soaps, Macrame crafted gifts, cakes and brownies, and Body Shop products. Drinks and food were available from Riley’s Bar. Most of the stall holders were deaf or hard of hearing and enjoyed meeting each other.
We’d like to give a big shout-out to our lovely team of Riley’s volunteers. Simon, Val, Kim, Kate and Lucy B have recently received their bronze award for 3 months of volunteer service.
