The young people taking part in the Young Leaders Programme enjoyed a 2-day residential Leadership Skills event at Brathay Trust in the Lake District in early October. They took part in teamwork challenges and ghyll scrambling near Ambleside. Everyone enjoyed the trip.
“I had a great time with you guys. So, thank you for the opportunity”.
The AQA Unit Award Scheme has approved a new deaf-specific Unit Award that The Community & Heritage CIC designed to support and recognise the achievements of the young people. All the young people will receive this award now that they have completed the programme. It will also then be available for use by any other groups working with deaf young people who take part in the AQA Scheme.
The Young Leader’s Programme was designed and delivered by a team from The Community & Heritage CIC, in partnership with Manchester Deaf Centre, as part of Manchester Deaf Centre’s ‘Leaders with Lived Experience’ project. ‘Leaders with Lived Experience’ was funded by The National Lottery Community Fund and the aim of the project is to develop young leaders within the deaf community.
