Volunteers are involved with most areas of our work. We are currently particularly keen to find volunteers to help with:
However, there are many other opportunities available, for example, helping with social events, fundraising, or subtitling videos. We pride ourselves on being able to find a role for everyone.
We welcome all volunteers who have completed a Level 1 BSL or equivalent course or are able to sign to an equivalent standard. You do not need to hold a qualification if you have signing skills at this level.
Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, practice using BSL, gain skills, build experience and confidence in a work environment and improve your CV. Many of our previous volunteers are now on our paid staff team. We have a structured volunteer offer. You will be fully supported in your role. We will help you to apply for your DBS check and pay for it. We also help volunteers with their travel expenses.
Even if you are not yet sure if you want to volunteer, please do come along on the 18th to have a chat with us and find out more information. We look forward to meeting you. Please could you let us know you are coming by emailing James Stables:
