Our Well-being Group offers you a place where you can come to share experiences with other D/deaf people, meet new people and socialise. The group was established to help to improve self-confidence and offer the chance to try new activities that can support positive well-being and health in an enjoyable way.
Activities have included:
"I love art and it was nice to chat with deaf friends."
“Lockdown was hard for me, I could only go for a walk in the park, I enjoyed that but wasn’t allowed to do anything else. I joined the Wellbeing Zoom session, which is only one hour, but I am too anxious to attend Manchester Deaf Centre. I feel safer to stay at home, I am too worried to attend MDC."
“I found making the Welcome poster to be fun, I enjoyed it."
“I would just like to say how absolutely fantastic the walkabout group has been. Speaking on behalf of myself and my daughter, the fact that she can get out and about with a group of peers has had a huge effect on both her mental and physical health. To be able to visits different parks and places independent from me, with a group who she can communicate with has been brilliant. Especially, as my daughter, and a lot of deaf people, can feel extremely isolate. After this past year and a half we all realise how important being outside in nature benefits our overall wellbeing….”
